Each plan covers a number of sites: Standard and Advanced cover one, Elite covers five, and a plan bought in a larger quantity covers that many times more. This guide explains what counts as a site, how a site takes its place on your license, and how to move a license to a new site.
How a site is activated
A site is activated the moment you save your license key on it under Fundraising > License. Each add-on on that site takes one of its places on your license. There is nothing else to switch on, and no list of sites to fill in ahead of time.
The limit is counted separately for each add-on. On a one-site plan, each add-on in the plan can be active on one site.
What counts as a site
A site is one WordPress site address.
- Gratora ignores
httporhttps, a leadingwww.and the port number, so example.org and www.example.org are the same site. - A path makes a different site, so example.org and example.org/blog count as two.
Local and staging sites are free
These addresses never use up a place on your license, and they still receive updates:
- localhost and 127.0.0.1
- addresses ending in
.local,.test,.localhost,.invalidor.example - addresses starting with
staging.,stage.,dev.,test.orpreview., for example staging.example.org
Any other address counts as a site, even one you only use for testing, such as a temporary address your hosting company gives you.
See where your license is active
- Sign in to your account at gratora.net/account.
- Open Licenses.
Each license lists its add-ons, how many of their sites are in use, and the date the plan renews. Under each add-on you see every site it is active on, the version installed there and when that site last checked in. Local and staging sites are tagged staging ยท no seat used.
Move a license to another site
- On the old site, go to Fundraising > License, clear the key and click Save key. The site tells gratora.net at once, and every add-on on it gives back its place.
- On the new site, install the add-ons and save your key under Fundraising > License.
Deactivating or deleting an add-on on the Plugins screen also gives back that add-on’s place, and so does replacing the key with another one. Each of these frees the place only when the site can reach gratora.net at that moment.
If the old site is gone, or could not reach gratora.net when you cleared the key, free its place from your account instead: open Licenses and click Deactivate next to the old site, once for each add-on listed there. Do this only for a site that no longer has the key saved. A site that still has it takes a free place back at its next check.
Deactivating in your account is a change to your license, so it needs a sign-in link sent within the last 30 minutes. If the account asks for a fresh link, click Sign out at the top of your account, sign in again with a new link from your email, and click Deactivate again.
When a site is over the limit
If every place is taken, the License screen on the extra site says Site limit reached, and Gratora shows a notice on its screens. That site keeps running its add-ons but gets no updates for them.
To fix it, free a place by clearing the key on a site you no longer use (or, if that site is gone, by deactivating it in your account), or add sites to your plan. The site over the limit picks up a free place on its own at its next check (about every 12 hours), with no need to enter the key again.
Need more sites
- On the Plan tab in your account you can add sites to the plan you have, or move to Elite. See Change your plan or add sites.
- A new purchase is always a separate license with its own key, so buying again does not add sites to the license you already have.
